Dawneen Banks

Founder and Board Chair

Raised on a small farm in Eastern Colorado, Dawneen has always loved to “play in the dirt.” From making mud pies as a child to transforming the one-acre landscape of her fixer-upper home in Greeley, she has always found joy in being outdoors and growing beautiful things.

From an early age, she also knew flowers would hold a special place in her life. As a child, she was irresistibly drawn to wherever flowers bloomed, often wandering into neighbors’ yards just to admire them. One spring day, she discovered a yard with beautiful daffodils and tulips. Acting on instinct—and with a generous heart—she gathered a handful, marched to the homeowner’s front door, and proudly presented the flowers back to their owner.

While the story brings laughter today, it taught two unforgettable lessons: first, never pick someone else’s flowers without permission—and second, there is something deeply gratifying about giving away fresh flowers. That moment sparked a lifelong love for all things floral.

Dawneen graduated from floral design school and has been a professional florist for more than 30 years, revealing that her greatest joy has never been in selling them but in giving them away.

Following her breast cancer diagnosis in 2021, Dawneen realized her true calling was to use her passion for flowers to bring encouragement, comfort, and joy to other women undergoing breast cancer treatment.

Today, Dawneen is healthy and has stepped away from her corporate career in higher education technology to pursue the work that truly feeds her soul.

Dawneen and her husband, Mike, have called Greeley home for nearly 30 years and are the proud parents of three grown children—Ashlynne, Collin, and Kenleigh. They are also lovingly known as “Pops” and “Deenie” to their sweet granddaughter, Winnie Hazel.
