Rooted in Compassion, Community, and Flowers
Flowers offer more than beauty—they can bring comfort, hope, and a meaningful bright spot during days often marked by hospital visits, fatigue, and uncertainty. A bouquet has the power to transform an ordinary moment into one where a woman feels seen, encouraged, and deeply valued—and those moments matter.
Blooms and Blessings was created from a desire to make those moments matter by bringing joy, encouragement, and compassion to women undergoing breast cancer treatment in a way that reflects a deeply personal understanding of the journey they face.
As a breast cancer survivor, founder Dawneen Banks understands firsthand the emotional and physical weight this diagnosis carries. That intimate understanding is the heartbeat of the organization’s mission. Built upon her lifelong love of flowers and more than 30 years of experience as a florist, Blooms and Blessings began as a small passion project—an effort to use flowers to encourage women walking through treatment.
When the first recipients shared how deeply meaningful and impactful those unexpected bouquets had been, and expressed their hope that every woman in treatment could receive one, it became clear that this simple gesture held the power to do far more. Their overwhelming response inspired Dawneen to step away from her corporate career and bring her nonprofit vision to life.
What began as a quiet act of encouragement has since grown into a 501(c)(3) organization rooted in compassion, connection, and community. Today, Blooms and Blessings brings together volunteers, donors, sponsors, and advocates united by one purpose: to bless women facing one of the most difficult battles of their lives with beauty, encouragement, and the reminder that they are not alone.
